About

Hello and welcome to the Sierra Tradesman website. We’re dedicated to bringing products and services for your land management needs, with a focus on resilient design and materials.

For generations, farming and homesteading have been a way of life in my family. I grew up on five irrigated acres in the agrarian community of the Bitterroot Valley in Montana; seemingly always working on fence, moving and fixing irrigation pipe, handling livestock, and bucking bales along with the various accoutrements of rural life.

I currently work and have formally studied a number of skilled trades in my career. However, my passion for food and agriculture drew me to passionately study related agricultural vocations. We serve a number of local Tuolumne County residents and producers by building infrastructure to support their homes and farming operations. If what were offering sounds useful, we would be thrilled to share our passion with you.

We hope you enjoy our products and services. If you have any questions or comments, please contact us (915) 315-0103 or sierratradesman@protonmail.com.

Mission Statement

Our primary mission, is to help landowners and caretakers effectively manage the landscapes where they reside.

I strive to achieve this goal through solid design and planning, followed by thoughtful and well executed infrastructure and management systems. In a matter of hours we can affect changes that will last for generations, so a little due diligence in design and stewardship is not out-of-line.

Below are a few key pieces I like to keep in mind.

Phases of property development: Design and Planning, Establishment, Observe and Interact, Upgrade, Maturity.

Acknowledging degenerative systems and minimizing their use appropriately.

Similarly, strive to seek out regenerative, neutral, or passive systems…. When contextually appropriate.

Context….it is important. Design & Planning stems from decision making, place emphasis on good decision making tactics. See Holistic Management.

Design…it is important. Making decisions that lead to putting infrastructure, in the correct places, at the appropriate time.

Scales of permanence: Climate, Geography, Water, Access, Forestry, Buildings, Fencing, Soils, Economy, Energy. Click here for more information about landscape permanence.
