Growing up on irrigated acreage in Montana’s Bitterroot Valley, I learned that fence building, irrigation work, livestock husbandry, and agricultural production weren’t just chores — they were a lifestyle. That upbringing shaped how I approach every project.

Sierra Tradesman provides skilled trade work and land stewardship services for landowners, homesteads, farms, ranches, and residential or commercial properties. We focus on resilient design, durable materials, and thoughtful infrastructure.

I didn’t launch this business because I saw a profitable opportunity. I started it because I watched too many land managers waste time and money on infrastructure that didn’t last — a water line that failed during peak irrigation season, a gate that wouldn’t hold when it mattered most, clients left stranded without proper support.

That experience defines our approach today. We bring hands-on experience, quality workmanship, grit, and a commitment to finishing the job.

We help landowners thoughtfully develop and manage the landscapes where they reside. Strong projects begin with clear understanding of context and careful planning, followed by well-executed infrastructure and management systems. In just a few hours, a fence can be built, a water line installed, or a road graded — but those decisions influence how a property functions for decades.

Whether installing fencing, designing water systems, fabricating custom projects, or designing earthworks, we create systems that work with the land — not against it.

Every situation is unique, but core principles guide our work:

Our methodology draws from the Scale of Permanence — a framework that prioritizes decisions from foundational factors like climate, geography, and water down through access, buildings, fencing, soils, economics, and energy. We also apply Holistic Management principles — a structured approach to context-setting and decision-making that keeps the whole system in view.

If our services align with your needs, we’d welcome the chance to discuss your project.
